My story begins with my now, late father, teaching me to box and methods of unarmed combat at a very early age to which he had gained extensive knowledge from his specialist military background.
As with most people at the time, my first glimpse of Kung Fu came in 1979, at the age of 8, when watching the ground breaking Bruce Lee in Enter The Dragon a truly inspirational Martial Artist never to be forgotten. I have spent my entire life living for Martial Arts, and have been fortunate enough to have trained with many great masters that have helped me to develop my skill and knowledge to what I have become today. Here is a list of some of the great masters I have to thank.
- Master Kwok Cheung...United Kingdom Wing Chun
- Grandmaster IP Chun...Hong Kong Wing Chun
- Master Derek Frearson...United Kingdom Tong Long
- Grand Master Lee Kam Wing ...Hong Kong Tong Long
- Master Huang Ping...China/United Kingdom Bagua Zhuang
- Master Cliff Au Yueng...Hong Kong WSL Wing Chun
I have been teaching actively since the early nineties, going full time in 2003 with our fully equipped full time studio opening in January 2004.
Over the past ten years I have also had connections to the Close Protection industry, which has given me opportunities to work along side and train with specialists from the military, police and other various security forces. During this time I have seen and experienced many things some good but unfortunately some bad, to be expected in these lines of work. I am now an official government trainer teaching various levels of security, and am head of developement for a number of security and training companies.
I am eternally grateful to all those I have gained my knowledge from, Instructors and students alike.
Whatever my status now or in years to come I will always remain a student first and foremost, as you should always be open to further your Knowledge in your chosen field.
All I am and all that I will be would not be possible if wasn't for the one man that's been my driving force and inspiration over the years. A good man with a big heart. Bravest and greatest fighter I have ever come across. I saw him fight the hardest fight I've ever seen and still never give in, he showed me its what's in your heart and in your mind that really counts. His opponent was Cancer; unfortunately he lost the battle on 1st May 2000.
My late father Robert Edward Brown
Enjoy your training, enjoy life.

I began studying Ving TSun in 1986. I had always felt drawn to the martial art, however I never actually got off my backside and put my dreams in to action.
I have trained for the past 14 years, with David Brown Sifu, and have developed and evolved both as a Martial Artist, and a person.
With effort and dedication I have found it is possible to achieve your targets and goals whilst improving your confidence, drive, happiness, and ability to defend your family and yourself.
I hope to teach new students, and help them release their potential that is inside them, whilst promoting the true martial art message of inner peace and strength of body and soul.

My interest in the martial arts started at an early age. I initially started with Karate at about the age of 10 but soon lost interest as I didn't have a great understanding of principles and techniques at this age. I didn't really get back in to martial arts again until I was at university, where I discovered a local low-gar kung fu club. I trained there for 6 months until I had to come home from uni.
After refreshing my interest in martial arts, especially kung fu, I started looking for a place to train back home, and so found wing chun with sifu Kwok. I also started karate at a local club to try that out again, but soon gave that up to concentrate on the wing chun.
Although I enjoyed the wing chun training, I wanted more, so I started taking extra classes under instruction of sifu David Brown. Although sifu Kwok is no doubt a good instructor and martial artist, I found sifu Brown's classes harder, but more intriguing and rewarding.
After training with sifu Brown for a while, I discovered that he also teaches another style, northern seven stars praying mantis, and so decided to give that a try. I can say I am glad I did because the style is everything you could want and sifu Brown is a great instructor. I studied wing chun and praying mantis for a while together, until I had an unfortunate accident which put me out of training for a few months. When I came back I decided to concentrate solely on the mantis as I found this the best style for me personally.
Since then I have not looked back. I have trained hard and managed to reach a good level at the academy. For me, training will never stop, I find it addictive, I always want do to more and improve myself. It is too easy to not turn up for training and come up with some excuse in your head to make it ok. Strangely, I find if I force myself to train when I feel this way I actually feel more rewarded afterwards.
I think it helps that everyone at the academy gets along and will help you the best they can in your training and that everyone gets quality instruction from one of the top mantis practitioners in the world.

It’s hard to believe that I would be writing about being an instructor!
When I look back at the days when I was down the pub most nights straight from work for a few beers and a kebab on the way home!!! Back then I had an unhealthy life style, I was 23 asthmatic and very unfit, and I decided to do something about my life!! So I started looking around for martial arts clubs because I always like the idea of martial arts... after training with a few different clubs on and off I was introduced to Sifu David brown, I started with private lessons on the first lesson we did some general fitness and after about 3 press ups I was chugging at my asthma pump… but I wanted to push though the lesson and keep on going and I did … day by day I got fitter, healthier and learned the great art of wing chun, I started coming to the lessons every week and now I have been training with My sifu since 2003 and now I am not asthmatic I can do 55 press ups under a minute and I live a much healthier life and I now teach wing chun to a full class , since teaching I have been Hong Kong to train and plan to go again soon I have met some great people who have became good friends. I teach people of all sex, ages and size. Wing Chun it’s a great way to meet friends get healthier, fitter and learn to defend you against this ever growing violence.

I have always had an interest in Martial Arts but my parents were against the idea of me training and thought it best to move my energy to outdoor pursuits. By the time I was in my late teens I was a very competent rock climber which, with the support of my parents, I started to turn this into a full time occupation. I ended up training like a demon and spent most of my waking life trying to find better ways of pushing myself to become a better, stronger and fitter climber. Eventually I moved into competitions and, over a number of years, competed at a high level with very good results. At this time I was also teaching what I had learnt to others and running training courses, mainly one on one session’s.
Due to changes in circumstance and numerous injuries I started to move away from climbing and into the gym. This did not really fit into how I like to keep myself fit and was soon left looking for a new outlet.
At this time Sifu Dave Brown started a class at my gym and I went along to the demonstration and then the first class. I was hooked. The training was hard but that made me want to train even more. I have never looked back. Sifu Dave Brown has a huge wealth of real world experience and knowledge in what he teaches and has the ability to give this knowledge to his students. I now have the same passion for Kung Fu as I did with climbing and as an instructor really enjoy being able to pass this on to others.

Hi my name is Kyle and I have been training at Kudos Academy Ltd for around 6 years. When I started I was really unfit And I wanted to learn self-defence. Kudos Academy Ltd was highly recommended for both and I joined up! Have been training ever since now I am fitter than when I was 18! I enjoy the style as it covers all aspects of fighting systems.

I started Training at Kudos in 2004. I wanted a newer and better way of life. I was a very difficult person all those years ago. My mother had died in 1996, my father and I didn’t get on for a while and I couldn’t hold down any jobs for more than a few weeks.
Sifu (Master) David Brown gave me a chance to train and accepted me as one of his students. With Sifu David’s patience and tolerates and after a year of training, I developed trust, understanding and self discipline.
The Club had given me lots of new friends, self-confidence; stability in the home & at work and even improved my relationship with my father.
My proudest moment was when I was selected for the Demo team and was a lion dancer. This gave my father “face” he said that kudos had brought his daughter back to him. As you may have guessed my father was also a martial artist, his way of life was an example to me. Sadly my father died this summer(2009). I will always continue this way of life and beliefs in Kung Fu to become hopefully one day a great martial artist myself. I want for my Master, Sifu David Brown to one day be proud of me as my father was.
We can all find what we are looking for with faith, determination and above all patience. Find your path. Happy Training.
Wah
